Now now, anything that says "really free" is a good start :-)
Some mention of where or how the actual raw samples were
originally created would be... nice.

Yes. Good enough IMVHO.
"use as you see fit" is a very broad definition (good) and
"royalty free" could be taken to mean "freely redistributable".
"these samples are really free" is the best part.
If the original statement is packaged along with the instrument
files then it should be enough to satisfy future queries... ie;
DELL linux engineers could be interested enough to double check
the freepats tarball, maybe.
